I think the tests so far have been reasonably challenging because there are enough word problems to make the test difficult, but there are also many simple equations or so that require test takers to double (or even triple) check their work.

Do you feel like Mr. Jobe adequately prepared you for the tests? Explain why or why not.
I think Mr. Jobe finely prepares us for the tests because he gives us plenty of practice with worksheets, quizzes, a reasonable amount of homework, and review games.

What has been your favorite part about math class so far? What has been your least favorite part?
My favorite part about math class was the properties project because it allowed us to think in a creative way. My least favorite part was (is) having to memorize all the properties because I’m terrible at memorizing them!

What suggestions do you have to improve this class?
    - I really don’t think there’s anything much to improve in our math class, but it would be nice if all the projects we receive in the future are at least a little fun and enjoyable (like they were until now!)

  2. I don't think the test was that challenging. Problems that has a slight twist in questions would make me more challenging. I have to take care of all the details in the problem so I wouldn't miss anything.

Yes I think so because there are variety of problems in the test. Some questions has a lot of calculations, you have to write an equation or an expression that fits the word problem, and also some questions you have to think for some time.

When the questions are too straight forward, it is really boring. You do the same thing over and over again. But if there is something I have to figure out, I feel great accomplishment.

I feel comfortable with calculations, but I make mistakes in word problems and some complicated calculations. I don't want to miss them. I want to make less mistakes. All the tests I wrote, mistakes are the ones that took off the points.

    1. Good points, but you did not answer all of the questions.

  3. 1. Do you feel like the tests have been reasonably challenging? If they are challenging to you, what makes them challenging? If they are not challenging to you, what types of problems would make them more challenging?
I think that the tests have been reasonably challenging because they are not impossible, but they are a bit harder than the questions we did in class. I think the word problems make tests challenging because it is much easier to make a mistake on word problems than on normal problems

    2. Do you feel like Mr. Jobe adequately prepared you for the tests? Explain why or why not.
I think Mr. Jobe prepared us for the tests really well because he explained the concepts in class, he told us what would be on the tests, what wouldn't be on the test, so we that we could study well. We also played the review game in the class before the tests and the questions on the review game have been similar to the questions on the test.

    3. What has been your favorite part about math class so far? What has been your least favorite part?
My favorite part about the math class so far has been the properties video because we got to work with a partner, there was not a lot of work we had to do, it was mainly having fun and trying to make a creative video. My least favorite part of this class so far has been the time between the test and the day the test results come out because I get really worried that I did bad and my grade will go down so I get very worried and end up checking powerschool every day, multiple times on the same day.

    4. What suggestions do you have to improve this class?
I don't think there is a lot we can do to improve this class because it's already fun, but I like doing group work because I enjoy working with other people and having more than one idea so I the only suggestion I make is to do projects with partners.

  4. I think that the test has been quite challenging. I was not sure what was going to be on the test. Some questions made me think for a long time, especially word problems and writing equations and expressions because every term had to be placed correctly and if anything went wrong, the whole equation or expression’s result would change. I would say that the test went quite OK, mostly because of Mr.Jobe’s teaching. Mr.Jobe did an awesome job preparing us for the test. We were practicing the problems for long time and had a very good review the day before the test. The review game was good and Mr.Jobe made it fun, so it was easy to remember what we were learning. My favorite part about this class has been the…...Mr.Jobe!! I hated math but with Mr.Jobe, I am starting to enjoy it. My least favorite part were the tests. The hate tests because I have study for them and practice doing some problems. I have only one suggestion to improve this class…...do not write Pop quiz on the board because if someone comes to see you during lunch or advisory and sees Pop quiz written on the board, they are going to study for it, which defeats the purpose of it being a pop quiz.

    1. Good point about the pop quiz, but remember, it was a bonus pop quiz. I won't give true pop quizzes in this class.

  5. 1. Do you feel like the tests have been reasonably challenging? If they are challenging to you, what makes them challenging? If they are not challenging to you, what types of problems would make them more challenging?
-->I feel the tests have been judiciously challenging because Mr. Jobe gives us questions that we have solved during homework as well as one or two new questions we might not have encountered during class(like the bonus questions). The questions students have encountered before may be somewhat easier than the new questions, but still makes the students review their work, which is what students should be doing in a challenging yet durable test.

    2. Do you feel like Mr. Jobe adequately prepared you for the tests? Explain why or why not.
-->I believe Mr. Jobe prepared all of us well for the test because he covers most of the problems that might come up on the quiz either during class or at home by assigning us a reasonable amount of homework. Plus, Mr. Jobe points out what we should do and what we should not do during class clearly, which helps us during the tests.

    3. What has been your favorite part about math class so far? What has been your least favorite part?
-->The Review Games and the Properties project were the best part about math class because it enabled us to think out of the box and imply mathematic properties in our daily lives. My least favorite part is that we don't use the chess sets in the back of the classroom(because I was looking forward to the thought that we might do something using the chessboards in the beginning of the term).

    4. What suggestions do you have to improve this class?
-->Maybe more worksheets might help us practice what we learned even more. There really is nothing to suggest. How about using the chessboards during class now and again?

    1. The chess boards are for the chess club I teach. I am, however, open to using them in class if it can help us review, but not everyone knows how to play. Any ideas about how we can do that?

  6. Yes I think the tests are challenging, I think long equations and problem solvings are making them challenging. I am confused on were I are in long equations. When I am lost at where I am I tend to make dumb mistakes. I often make mistakes for easy calculating. For problem solving I have a hard time understanding what it means.

I think Mr. Jobe prepared us for the tests. I like the way he gives out variety types of problems. He makes us remember something much easier than just solving such as games, projects and etc.

My favorite part was when we watched the videos about properties. While I was doing the project I had lots of fun and the videos were memorable so I could learn them. Usually I would just memorize the properties but because of the videos I think I now know the properties and I am not confused.

I think we could have more games and projects because it makes it easier to study. I wish there was less problem solvings.

    1. The tests were reasonably challenging, and especially the word problems. It makes you think over and over again, and also confusing you. I hate word problems because you have to show bunch of steps. Also, if you don’t get what it’s telling you, you can’t continue. That was the hardest part for me.

    2. I really think that Mr.Jobe prepared a lot for our test. We always have warm up before the class start, and also classwork every time. I really hated the warm up and the classwork, because it makes my head think more and more when I am already thinking a lot. But now, the questions we did in class were really helpful. Questions similar to it came out on the test, and I can also use it for my note for studying.

    3. I liked how Mr.Jobe is organized every class. You planned up everything, and even wrote it on the board, to let all of us know what’s going on. Putting homework on the wiki was really helpful too, because if you forget to copy it down, you can always get it from the wiki. My least favorite part is having pop quiz, because for me, it always pops out when I didn’t prepare anything for it.

    4. We don’t really need any improvements for this class...but I think it will be better if we have more calculation practice in a FUN way.

  8. 1.) Do you feel like the tests have been reasonably challenging? If they are challenging to you, what makes them challenging? If they are not challenging to you, what types of problems would make them more challenging?
The tests are a good level, because the word problems and the calculation problems with lots of steps. Because of the complex steps to the calculation, the solvers go over their work, even though they think they got the answer right.

2.) Do you feel like Mr. Jobe adequately prepared you for the tests? Explain why or why not.
I feel like Mr. Jobe adequately prepared us for the tests, because the classwork in the classes are things that we are actually learning, so it helps our brain get trained. In my opinion, I think it is better than a teacher taking pages of notes and making us memorize math vocabulary.

3.) What has been your favorite part about math class so far? What has been your least favorite part?
My favorite part about this math class so far is watching and making the videos about the properties project. We used a lot of creativity to make the videos. Also, watching the other videos helped me understand properties well.

4.)What suggestions do you have to improve this class?
Maybe more things like projects that can help understand math concepts in a fun way will help our math class be more attentive!:)

  9. 1. Do you feel like the tests have been reasonably challenging? If they are challenging to you, what makes them challenging? If they are not challenging to you, what types of problems would make them more challenging?

Yes, I think it was reasonably challenging. Occasionally, there were some problems that made me stuck in the middle of the test and had a hard time getting a solution of it. Especially, word problems are making me hard because there are many requirements and need to follow all the directions that questions ask.

    2. Do you feel like Mr. Jobe adequately prepared you for the tests? Explain why or why not.

I think Mr. Jobe adequately prepared for the test because the test was very tricky and complicate, which made us to check more than one or two times.

    3. What has been your favorite part about math class so far? What has been your least favorite part?

Even though, our math class was always fun, my favorite part about math class so far was the chapter review game. When we were playing this game, we covered all of the chapter, while we had fun. Solving math problems with a white board and a marker was very interesting and exciting. On the other hand, the least favorite part of the math class was when we were solving class works. Mr.Jobe sometimes give lots of questions that requires a lot of thinking and skill, which kind of overwhelms me. Even though the class works help us learning, it is sometimes frustrating and boring.

    4. What suggestions do you have to improve this class?

I think learning class works in a review game formation would be very interesting and fun to learn. Learning like this might have a positive effect to students and encourage us to study harder.

  10. 1. Do you feel like the tests have been reasonably challenging? If they are challenging to you, what makes them challenging? If they are not challenging to you, what types of problems would make them more challenging? No, they were moderate, but Mr Jobe has said tat the tests will get much harder. i do not like this. I want Mr. Jobe to make the tests adequate throughout the whole year.

    2. Do you feel like Mr. Jobe adequately prepared you for the tests? Explain why or why not. Yes, because he has explained every kinds of details for us to understand.

    3. What has been your favorite part about math class so far? What has been your least favorite part?
My favorite part of Math Class was learning new stuff. It was because Mr. Jobe always teaches us enthusiastically, and makes us want to learn more. The worst, which is kind of obvious, are the tests! I what tests and quizzes! (I kind of know that they are needed.) I also loved the review games that we did, and the smurfberries that we got.
    4. What suggestions do you have to improve this class?
I think that it is perfect except for the fact that the tests will get harder, and the review games could be more fun:)

  11. 1. (I haven’t took the Chapter 2 Test yet, I’ll base this answer on the Chapter 1 Test.) I think the test was reasonably challenging. I believe it was challenging mostly because of the word problems. The word problems made me think over and over again, and sometimes they confused me on the word settings. Also, some of the hard equation problems made me check a few times.

    2. I feel that Mr. Jobe prepared me well for the test. This is because he gave us a particular amount of homework and some worksheets so that we could get used to whatever we were learning. Also, we played review games, making me more prepared for the test. We also had a quiz in the middle of the chapter, which helped me.

    3. My favorite part about math class so far was that the class was very organized. Also, I loved the properties videos and the game we played (review game). While making the properties videos, I had a lot of fun. It also helped me understand more of the topic. The class (and wiki) was very organized, too, so I could keep track of what we were doing. My least favorite part about math class is that I need to memorize all of the properties, and I am not good at memorizing things.

    4. Personally, I don’t think we need a lot of improvements for now. However, later on, I wish our class could continuously do review games and had fun classes, like right now. Also, I wish that the projects and assignments were exciting and enjoyable. Apart from that, there is nothing to improve our class! I am enjoying math class a lot.
