Joe got three paychecks and a ten dollar bonus. He then got a promotion that multiplied his pay and bonus by 4. His dog then ate 10 dollars. After his promotion and losing $10 he has 42 dollars, how much money did he get from each paycheck.
I think this story is very functional and easy to understand. The story was very clear and I wrote the right equation after I read the question easily. The story was very creative and descriptive but I think the part where dog eats 10 dollars should be improved. However, this story was overall very creative and easy to understand, which I think it was great. Grammar mistakes : There aren't any grammar mistakes, but it would be nice if you put a question mark at the end of your story. Also, you could separate "After his promotion and losing $10 he has 42 dollars" and "How much money did he get from each paycheck?" by putting a period in it.
This the simplest, shortest and easiest problem I have read so far. I did not expect any of the word problems to be this easy, but here we have the such a simple and well-meaning (except for the dog-eating-money part) problem. I formed the problem easily and even novice problem solvers (or mathematicians) could solve it. Great job. After saying this much, I guess it is obvious that the story is functional. Very creative and simple. Keep up the good job. THere were not really any grammatical mistakes, but the punctuation could be improved. Very good and loved your story :)
I thought the story fit the equation perfectly and was simple, easy to understand. I think it could be better if it gave a better reason for why he lost his 10 dollars but I agree with others that it was a creative and good story overall. I couldn't find much grammatical mistakes and the story was creative. I like the way how the story was interesting and simple.
Joe got three paychecks and a ten dollar bonus. He then got a promotion that multiplied his pay and bonus each by 4. He then spent $10 to buy a giant squid. After his promotion and losing $10. How much money does Joe have left?
